NOT ONLY PAPRIKA AND GOULASH
Hungary is one of the oldest countries in Europe, and their language, known as Magyar is considered as one of the most difficult foreign languages to learn. The people there are very proud of their country and heritage and world-famous dish – goulash. Hungary is also one of the rare countries in the world which has succeeded in integrating Roma people in their society, up to the point that they have embraced gypsy music, vocabulary, horse breeding and gypsy riding school which are today presented as traditional Hungarian shows.
The country boasts with no less than 1,300 thermal springs and 450 public baths, typically featuring Roman, Greek and Ottoman style architecture. Some of the most sumptuous thermal resorts include the Széchenyi Medicinal Bath, Gellért Baths, Lukács Baths, and Margaret Island.
The main points of attraction in Hungary are Budapest and Balaton Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Central Europe, but we would also advise anyone to visit the fascinating villages of the Great Hungarian Plain or try for themselves the healing water of their thermal springs.
Hungary is a very popular city break destination between Europeans, or as a part of Eastern European tour. However, it is a great mono destination, quite compact and easily maneuvered, with decent infrastructure and rates. It is a good choice for cultural tours, bird watching, family holidays, city breaks, independent or guided.
