Ljubljana is the capital of a state, but it is small and pretty, easy to get around, and full of surprises. It is remarkable for its rich tradition, youthful vibrancy, cultural creativity, feel for entertainment, and numerous green spaces. Ljubljana has preserved evidence of all the five millennia of its history, including, among others, the remains of the Roman city of Emona and the old city centre with its medieval castle and beautiful buildings with Baroque façades, decorative portals and uneven roofs. Other significant bits in the mosaic of Ljubljana are its picturesque bridges across the river Ljubljanica and its vast Tivoli park, stretching into the very city centre. In the second half of the 20th century, it was the world-famous architect Jože Plečnik that put an indelible personal stamp on his native city, and the so called Plečnik’s Ljubljana ranks among the 20th century’s most prominent total works of art.

The old port town with remnants of a medieval wall is protected as a cultural and historical monument. Narrow streets with closely constructed houses descending from the hill and its church to the central square on the coast only emphasize its Mediterranean character. This worldly coastal town, which developed under the influence of Venice, is considered to be one of the most authentic and most photogenic towns on the Adriatic coast. Later the town became even more splendid when the 12km long Lungomare coastal promenade was built that allowed people to stroll along the sea without worrying about horses and buggies (or cars today) from Opatija all the way to Ilka and Lovran. Everyone from Emperor Franz Josef to Anton Chekhov, Gustav Mahler and Isadora Duncan and James Joyce enjoyed summers here and the city has erected memorials to them and many others.

Through the entire city the buildings are crisscrossed with narrow streets and squares. Boat ride from Perast to island Gospa od Škrpjela( Lady of the Rocks ) and visit church on island
Perast is surely one of the strangest, and by its history one of the most beautiful places in Boka Kotorska. Today it is often called the quietest town in Boka. Its narrow streets and numerous, mostly abandoned renaissance, and baroque palaces, testify about the former richness of the bay of Boka Kotorska, and about the days when there used to be led a luxurious life of its inhabitants. Perast used to be a town of sailors, and it was know by that even outside the space of Montenegro. We can see even today that famous stone housed and captain’s palaces standing out.
The Island Gospa od Skrpjela (Our Lady of the Rocks) is one of two gorgeous islands in the bay of Boka Kotorska, which are situated in the sea across Perast in the Kotor municipality. The Island Gospa od Skrpjela, was made as an artificial island, which according to the stories was made by the seaman from Perast and Kotor, who on their big sail boats brought big stones. On the island there is a church. According to a legend, fisherman from Perast, after a shipwreck near the island, have found a icon of the Holy Mother of God with the Christ on a sea rock, so as the customs say they vowed to build a church on the island. They have built the church in 1630. As the island had to be maintained, the seaman continued to bring the stones, so that tradition is alive even today. The custom from the old times was recently renewed.

Zagreb is more than just a gateway to Central Europe; it is a melting pot.
